From News Center (Text by Yang Qingshan, International Exchange Department (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Work Office), School of International Education; Photo by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang of Thailand) On April 29, 2026, Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) held a unveiling ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, marking the formal establishment of the Thailand-China Center of Advanced Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as "the Center"). Focused on university-enterprise collaboration and the integration of industry and education, the Center is aimed at meeting the talent demands of Chinese-funded enterprises in Thailand and providing solid skilled talent support for the overseas expansion of Chinese enterprises.
At the ceremony, the two sides signed the Cooperation Agreement on the Joint Establishment of the Thailand-China Center of Advanced Manufacturing. Focusing on the field of advanced manufacturing, both parties will integrate their strengths in relevant disciplines, including manufacturing system engineering and mechatronics engineering, and innovatively launch a "2+1.5+0.5" undergraduate joint training model, under which students can obtain undergraduate graduation certificates and degree certificates from both universities. LZPU, together with Chinese-funded enterprises in Thailand, will jointly participate in the formulation of talent training programs, curriculum development, practical training, and employment placement, forming a tripartite collaborative education system of "university–university–enterprise." The first batch of 18 Thai students have completed their registration and are taking online Chinese language courses. They are scheduled to come to China in September to major in mechatronics engineering. Special scholarships will be provided by the enterprises, and students' internships and employment will be directly aligned with the job requirements of Chinese-funded enterprises. This model achieves the goal of "students are recruited as employees upon enrollment, and their transition to formal employment is secured upon graduation."
In recent years, focusing on the development of the electronic circuit industry in Thailand, LZPU has established cooperation with 10 Thai vocational institutions. It has successfully trained 205 students on tailored classes for four Chinese-funded enterprises, accumulating rich experience in implementing international industry-education integration in Thailand. The joint establishment of the Center with King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang represents the university's new endeavor to further meet the long-term talent needs of Chinese-funded enterprises in Thailand, build a long-term and stable academic education platform rooted in Thailand, and cultivate on-site engineers.
Going forward, the two universities will take the Center as a platform to deepen university-enterprise collaboration, jointly formulate professional standards and foster talents together. They will keep expanding local talent supply channels for Chinesefunded enterprises in Thailand, build a benchmark for cross-border industryeducation integration serving Chinese enterprises’ “Going Global” strategy, and inject strong momentum into the high-quality development of China-Thailand economic and trade exchanges and production capacity cooperation.
